In hot weather conditions it is difficult to concentrate on work and live. Thus, the air conditioning system has turned into an absolute necessity there rather than luxury. It was introduced by Stuart Cramer, but the term was suggested by W. Carrier. The air conditioning reduces air humidity and maintains its quality. There are ACs designed to dry the air without cooling it. The chief constituents of the AC are a condenser, an evaporator and a compressor. There is also a chemical substance to convert gas into liquid and vice versa. Air conditioners come in two kinds: a split and a package system. In the split system, the condenser and the compressor are installed outside the room and the evaporator is placed inside the room. The evaporator is specially designed for circulating the air inside the room. In the package system, all components are set outside the room. There are small-sized, mid-sized and large air conditioning systems. The most frequently purchased AC is the window air conditioner which is placed on a window and specially designed for cooling a particular room. If several rooms are to be cooled, select a split or a mini-split air conditioner, hinging on the number of rooms to be cooled. The most popular ones are portable air conditioners that you can move around. For cooling the whole house you should install central air conditioners. Portable air conditioning systems are advantageous, because you can install them in whichever room you want. It is a transportable unit and it has wheels so that you can easily move it from one room to another. The only drawback of the AC is electricity bills that can adversely impact upon one's pocket. Yet, there are a few handy tips to help you reduce the amount of consumed electricity and, therefore, electricity bills: • Do not place the air conditioner where the sun faces it directly. This makes the AC consume more power for cooling your room. • Do not use a big air conditioning system in a small-sized room. • Keep doors and windows closed, when the air conditioner is in on. By exploiting the air conditioner rationally, you can minimize your expenses.
